Janie Mitchell-Painter serves as one of Whitefield's assistant athletic directors and P.E. teachers. Janie began her career as a Collegiate Women's Basketball Coach. She was the Associate Head Women's Basketball Coach at Kennesaw State during the 2021-22 season. Prior to Kennesaw State, Janie served as Head Coach of the Cross Country and Women's Basketball teams at the University of Bridgeport. She has over 13 years of coaching experience and graduated from Georgia Tech in 2008 with a BS in business management. While at Georgia Tech, she was a 3 year captain and All-Conference player on the women's basketball team.

Why I love my job: I love the people at Whitefield! The faculty, administrators and students are phenomenal. I've been put in a position that allows me to focus on the whole child and not just one aspect of their lives. Whitefield has done an excellent job of cultivating a positive environment and a sense of community.

My family: I recently married the love of my life, William Painter. I have two stepsons, Billy and Devlin, who are both in the Air Force. William and I reside in Vinings, GA.

Hometown: I am from Jackson, MS. I was born there and lived there until I started at Georgia Tech. Most of my family still resides in Jackson, MS.
